Okay, this was literally the first metaphor my brains came up with to describe both my initial anxiety (I seriously contemplated playing hooky that morning) and the relief that came when I realized that everything was pretty much a piece of cake during the Webcomic Artist's Panel on Saturday. As a matter of fact, it actually came to me DURING the panel. I had to bite my tongue to keep from giggling to myself. Yes, I'm lame. I giggle at my own weird thoughts.
So, yeah, you could say we had an AWESOME time at Fandemonium :) The drive wasn't so great (I get motion sickness wayyyy too easy) and I actually got SUPER sick on the drive back home, but being at the expo was totally worth it. Everyone was ridiculously nice and supportive.
I'm actually extremely proud of myself for deciding to go (I almost declined right away because I'm so shy!), and now that I've had the experience, I'm eager to attend more cons and expos in the future! Ooh, and I was briefly mentioned on Nampa's local Fox news station too! SQUEE! Except, well, they **pronounced my name wrong (but after almost 23 years, I'm used to that)...but Roy practically shit a brick when we googled my name and saw it. They ended up coming in RIGHT after we left to head back home, which was lucky! I don't want my icky face on TV! :/
I didn't sell too many prints, but I got a good idea of how to set up a booth next time and make it much nicer. Plus, after all my bitching in past newsposts about clear packaging for prints, a fellow artist told me where to find some! YAY!
Speaking of said fellow artist, her name was Misty Benson, and she runs Morbidly Adorable Creations. Hells bells, ladies and gents, you have to visit this girl's site. Her work is amazing. We were set up at a booth right next to hers and the entire time I was so jealous of her work! Not only was she talented, but super sweet too. I'll be adding her to the Links page soon, so be sure to check out her site!
Anyways, thanks to all the readers who have been sending me such nice emails while I was away! Trust me, people like receiving compliments! :D It's a real self-esteem boost!!!
See you all next week!
XOXOXO Me
(ps) I got a lot of comments on the "Rub Me On Your Butt" soapy shirt I wore the day of the panel and a lot of people asked where they could get it...if you want to nab your own, it's the Lil' Soap design from Threadless. You can get one for $15 or wait until the next sale.
**by the way...everyone at the expo knew how to pronounce my name! Then again, anyone who watches anime knows how to pronounce 'Miya', but still...wow! Good on you! For those of you who don't know, it's MEE-UH. NOT my-uh.
